The connected learner record

One record for the whole apprenticeship.

Follow one apprentice from enrolment to achievement. Every stage writes to the same record, and every stage shows you what Journey does there.

Gateway to end‑point assessment

One click from gateway to the assessment organisation.

Meritura by Journey is the assessment operations system for awarding and end‑point assessment organisations. Journey talks to it natively, so the hand‑over that used to be a zip file and an email is a pack, an approval and a click.

Why Journey exists
£36ka year, paid to an incumbent platform, for a record the team still could not trust.

“I ran a training provider. We paid roughly £36,000 a year for the platform, and when the inspection came my team was still on Excel, chasing evidence across shared drives.”

“Journey exists so that never happens to another provider. One record, every team, and an AI you can ask instead of a dashboard you have to read.”

Karan, founder of JourneyFormer training provider director. Journey is built and hosted in the UK.
Questions

Questions providers ask.

Short answers, with the page to read next. More on the FAQ and in the glossary.

  • What is apprenticeship management software?

Apprenticeship management software runs the delivery, funding, e-portfolio, quality and gateway work of a UK training provider from one system. Journey keeps all of it on one connected learner record, so the ILR return, the evidence portfolio, the quality sample and the gateway checklist read from the same entries.

  • Is Journey free?

Journey Core is free forever for verified UK providers with up to 50 counted apprentices subject to application review. Active and on-break apprentices count; staff and employer accounts do not. Journey Advanced is priced per provider and adds Talk to Journey, Director Insight and operational monitoring, with AI included.

  • What is Talk to Journey?

Talk to Journey is the AI capability inside Journey Advanced. You ask a question about your apprentices, funding, quality or gateway inside the signed-in app, and Journey answers from your own connected learner record, listing the records it read. There is no public chat box and Journey never takes a consequential action on its own.

  • Does Journey handle the ILR and DfE funding rules?

Yes. Journey builds ILR returns R01 to R14 from the learner record, runs funding rule checks against the versioned rules pack for the start date, tracks agreed price and levy or non-levy route, and keeps a named audit trail of every change. Pack selection and checks help providers organise and review records; they are not a funding guarantee.

  • How does gateway and end-point assessment work in Journey?

The gateway readiness checklist reads from delivery, portfolio, English and maths and employer confirmation. When it clears, Journey builds a minimised assessment readiness pack, a named person approves it, and one click sends it to Meritura by Journey, the assessment operations system for awarding and end-point assessment organisations. The released result syncs back to the learner record.

  • Is Journey built for UK apprenticeships specifically?

Yes. ILR, off-the-job hours, progress reviews, gateway, EPA and the England apprenticeship funding rules are first-class parts of the record, not add-ons. Journey is independent software and is not affiliated with the Department for Education or Ofsted.
